The original sewer trap cap design, currently in use, uses brass threads to affix the cap to the trap, but degrades over time due to exposure to noxious waste, compromising the seal. The widely used fit-all cap, featuring a hazardous lead surround, is pounded into the trap opening, but the soft lead forms an imprecise and leaky seal. Sewer gases, including hazardous hydrogen sulfide, are not only offensive but also pose health risks, leading to OSHA regulations prohibiting employees from entering confined spaces with for plumbing repairs when sewer odors are present. BBA Environmental Innovations Inc has created the first ever state of the art and environmentally friendly Trap cap Eco pro.

With the Trap Cap Eco Pro, users can securely seal off the sewer trap's access point during clearing, preventing the escape of sewage and odors. The design also enables the safe removal of either the valve body or the entire unit for additional trap maintenance.
The Trap Cap Eco Pro was specifically designed to address various issues associated with sewer trap maintenance. Its three-part design, consisting of a base, valve body, and sight glass, allows for a reliable seal and mess-free access for trap servicing. The base, secured with a gasket seal and flexible clamping accessories, ensures a secure fit surpassing that of all other caps. The sight glass and valve mechanisms prevent sewage spillage during trap access and provide a clear view of the trap's interior for diagnostic purposes. Users can easily seal off the trap via the integrated valve, preventing sewage escape during clearing and subsequent servicing. The combination of sealant, gaskets and securing clamps replaces hazardous lead trap caps, resulting in a safer and more secure fit. The integration of an RFID chip allows storage and retrieval of essential maintenance information, taking the Trap Cap Eco Pro to a higher level of functionality.
